Travel × Fishing - How and What to Pack - ( '14 Perth, WA)

Tigris was blessed to fish some waters around Western Australia, OZ. Opposing to those of you out there (maybe you are not one of them) that likes to lug around your Plano Rod Tube a.k.a Bazooka, we like to stuff everything in a large enough duffle - Rods included.

Jetty for Fishing @ Woodman Point, Fremantle

A look around the jetty - note the waters shallow.
The waters around Perth is basically quite shallow with lots of sand and spots of reef around. Herrings are the common catch that's seen if you have a mate fishing around nearby usually chumming around the jetty. Do check out whether if you need a permit to fish the waters around and also make sure that you are fishing within the bag limits if there's one (Swan River).

[Top] Orochi X4 Secret Service - the Whip Snake (RM1180)
Choice of a good travelling rod for this trip will be the Megabass Orochi X4 F3-72X4S-SS "Whip Snake". This already popular version of the X4 F3-610XS (Aaron Martens Limited) is given an extra 4 more inches that can make you enjoy the overall Fresh and Salt water fishing - more with the ability to fish Rock fishes too. All in a packed 5 piece rod in a semi hard case.
(Left) Custom Bag [Tartan Check] (RM399)
(Right) Meiho VS-3037 ND (RM60)

Rod aside, the Megabass Custom Bag was also stuffed into the duffle. It is so versatile that it can be used as a carry around day pack as well. To go with the travelling pack the Meiho VS-3037 ND is a good lure organiser box to slip into the Megabass Custom Bag.

Comparison of how different rods and packs can go in your duffle.
In the Meiho Box is a selection of Squid Jigs from Yamashita, Gary Yamamoto Senkos, Megabass Metal Lures, Micro Jigs (Jackall Mametai), and some Spin Flies rigs - just to name a few. Since it's the first visit there to fish, one will definitely want to expand the lure selection for your possible hookups.
You can attach your reel to your broken down 5 piece rod and zip the case like this. Only available to Spinning Reel.
Spinning reels will be the go to choice for the use of this stick for the versatility. The Shimano Sephia BB 2500SDH is a good reel to pair with this Megabass stick. A good use of this is that the Reel can be stored mounted to the rod yet kept into the case.

Fish everywhere! Always have a pack rod in your inventory!
There are really just a few things to mind when packing for a holiday fishing. A good choice of a duffle / Rolling Duffle plays an important role to how you are going to avoid paying for that extra weight of your Rod Transporter if you are just planning to do some fun fishing while traveling - I won't be doing this if I am off for a jigging expedition definitely.

*There are tons of pack rods out there today and they are really well made. Get in touch with Tigris Tackle and let us know what kind of fishing you will be doing, we'll fix you up in no time!
