Shimano tackle have been busy lately releasing several models this year. Metanium is no stranger in the low profile baitcaster market, the success of the Metanium MG (Core 100Mg) and the ever pricey Metanium DC/7 spawned into this latest sexy super low profile beauty.

Feels so darn good when I palmed it on a rod, so low and sleek. What caught my attention the most was the new improved and innovative braking system. Shimano calls it SVS Infinite Centrifugal system, in general at a quick glance, it looks like a hybrid system from the ABU IVCB + Daiwa Magforce Z. Nonetheless, I am really impress with the wide range of clicks and adjustment of the brakes unlike the old VBS system of enabling just 6 pins. VBS system had its draw back too as cant be adjust on the fly while fishing, anglers need to pause and stop casting to remove the side cover to make adjustment. This new innovation also applied to the recent launched Chronarch 150 Ci4+ in North America.
New Metanium have bumped up the brakes adjustment to simple turn at the bottom, as well as enabling the 6 "shoes" on the spool. Another interesting fact bout this reel is, the buttery smooth cranking feel and smooth free spool spin! With the new micro module gears, you wont feel any mechanism feed back when cranking.I couldnt add more good reviews as, I only had limited 15 mins on the reel to snap pictures and molested it a little. It was good enough to impressed me and my hands is itching badly to keep this for my own use. had to debate myself, nearly spool up with some line and go casting in the field outside my house.
